Melody Gardens progress update
Construction work on Melody Gardens makes significant progress
We’re thrilled to report a very productive first quarter of construction work on our Melody Gardens development in Salford. The £6million scheme, which will deliver 58 properties for Places for People, is our first project aimed at bringing more affordable homes for local residents.
Following successful demolition and enabling works, phase one of construction began on the scheme in August 2018. This initial stage has focused on delivering 10 homes – nine houses and a bungalow.
Work has gone extremely well over the last three months with the ground floors almost complete. The team is expected to begin work on the upper floors of the two storey houses very soon.
Phase two of construction work in 2019 will then create the apartment block, comprising 17 one bedroom and 31 two bedroom apartments to deliver a total of 58 homes.
Construction work is being carried out by Salford-based contractor, Watson Homes, totalling approximately 77 weeks of work. Other members of the project team include TADW Architects and agents, Savills.
The fantastic progress made so far puts the project ahead of schedule. Upon completion, all 58 homes will be allocated via the Local Authorities Choice Based Lettings system to Salford residents who are in housing need.
